Project Summary
Mobilogica has worked with the City of Gold Coast to support and evolve key elements of the council’s network infrastructure, helping transform the platform into a more capable environment able to support a diverse range of services across the city’s fibre backbone.

As the network expanded, the City required infrastructure capable of supporting multiple services across a geographically distributed environment while maintaining reliable performance and operational stability. Mobilogica was engaged to redesign and upgrade sections of the network so that it could operate at a significantly higher capability level, integrating a variety of client services across the backbone infrastructure.

The project involved upgrading core switching and routing infrastructure, enabling secure intranet connectivity for remote council facilities and implementing backend compute platforms to support operational systems and monitoring services. These changes allowed the network to evolve into an ISP-grade infrastructure platform capable of supporting both existing services and future expansion.

Mobilogica continues to provide engineering oversight of the platform, supporting infrastructure upgrades, performance optimisation and the integration of additional services as the City’s network requirements evolve. By maintaining close engineering involvement with the network’s operation, Mobilogica ensures the infrastructure remains reliable, scalable and capable of supporting the City’s long-term connectivity needs.
Deliverables
Service Integration Across City Backbone
The City of Gold Coast required multiple network services to operate across the city’s fibre backbone while maintaining stable performance and clear separation between systems. Mobilogica redesigned sections of the network architecture to support the integration of multiple client services across the backbone infrastructure. This included designing routing, switching and segmentation strategies that allow services to operate reliably across a geographically distributed network.
Remote Site Intranet Connectivity
Council operations rely on secure and reliable connectivity between remote facilities located throughout the city. Mobilogica delivered intranet connectivity across the fibre backbone, enabling council facilities to communicate with core systems and internal services. This infrastructure ensures remote sites can operate as part of a unified network environment.
Core Network Infrastructure
To support the expanded scope of services, significant upgrades were required across the core network infrastructure. Mobilogica designed and implemented improvements to the switching and routing platforms supporting the backbone, increasing the capacity and resilience of the network while ensuring it could support future service growth.
Backend Compute Platforms
Supporting a city-scale network requires backend systems capable of running authentication services, monitoring platforms and operational tools. Mobilogica deployed and maintains the compute infrastructure required to support these platforms, ensuring the network can support operational services and future infrastructure expansion.
Security and Network Segmentation
Operating multiple services across a shared infrastructure requires careful separation of traffic and secure access controls. Mobilogica implemented segmentation and security policies across the network to ensure different services can operate safely across the same backbone infrastructure.
